108 Astro is a small, online-only practice run from India. The calculators here are free and open to anyone; what sits behind them is twenty-five years of classical study and an engineer's insistence that a number be right before it is reassuring.
108 Astro is an initiative built under the astrological expertise and guidance of Atish Jain. He was conferred the titles of Jyotish Alankar and Jyotish Acharya by the Institute of Astrology, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi, in 2013, and his study of Jyotish began well before that — in childhood, under the guidance of saints and gurus, and now spanning more than twenty-five years. Alongside it he took a degree in information technology and works as a software architect at a multinational organisation. Both halves of that show up in this site: the readings come from the classical texts, and the arithmetic underneath them is engineered rather than approximated.
The working belief here is that Jyotish, Vastu, meditation and spirituality are one body of knowledge, and that it survives contact with the twenty-first century perfectly well. Classical rules read against accurate modern calculation do not lose their meaning; they get sharper, because an ambiguity that used to be arithmetic can finally be seen for what it is — a place where the sources themselves disagree. That is the whole of 'Simply AstroLogical': keep the classics, fix the sums, and say plainly which is which.
No yearly, monthly or weekly predictions of the sort printed for a whole rashi at once. A forecast written for one-twelfth of the world, by someone who has not seen your horoscope, is entertainment — and treating it as guidance is how people end up making decisions on nothing. Everything on this site starts from a specific birth moment or a specific date, and where a result depends on a judgement the classical authorities split on, the page says so instead of quietly picking a side.
Every chart on this site is computed by one calculation engine reading DE440, the planetary ephemeris NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory publishes, so the same birth moment produces the same positions on every page. The matching score shows its working: all eight kootas, and — unusually — the classical cancellations, each printed with the Sanskrit verse and the work it comes from, so a reader can check the rule rather than take the total on faith. Cancellation is the part most free calculators skip, and it is often the part that changes the answer.
108 Astro is based in India and operates online only — there is no physical consultation centre and no walk-in address. The way to reach us is email, at contact@108astro.com, and the contact page says what to include so a reply is useful the first time.
